DEL POTRO WRIST OP

Gabriela Sabatini’s countryman, Juan Martin Del Potro, is all set to go through a wrist operation tomorrow. He would have to remain out of action for a few months because of that.

Del Potro’s wrist had been giving him problems for quite some time. He had to miss tournaments because of that. So, finally, he decided to go for the permanent solution of the problem which is surgery.

The doctor who would be doing that operation of Del Potro is not an unfamiliar one for him. He had done his operation once in the past as well and that was a successful operation. The Argentinean would be hoping that he does a good job this time around as well.

Interacting with his fans on a social networking site, Del Potro admitted that opting for surgery was a difficult decision at this stage.

The statement that he released on that site reads, “It’s never easy for any sportsperson to go under the knife as after that you have to remain on the sidelines for several weeks which can be very frustrating and then when you return, it takes you a while to get into your groove. So, I guess a difficult period awaits me, but, that happens with everyone and you have just got to deal with it.”

Earlier, it had been assumed that Del Potro would go for surgery after the Miami masters, but, the Argentinean realized that he would not be able to get through the tournament with that wrist of his and thus, he withdrew.

Del Potro is presently in top 10 in the official ATP rankings, but, his time away from the game after the surgery would affect his position there. However, that’s not something that he would be worried about.
